Stories From the Trail | Palestine, Texas
Some places become part of a town's identity without ever really trying to.
The Magnolia Shop is one of those places.
Located in downtown Palestine and sharing its building with the Magnolia Sandwich Shop, it's the kind of local spot that people around here already know. A place where you can wander in without quite knowing what you'll find—and that's part of the fun.
From vintage and antique treasures to goods from local makers and vendors, the Magnolia Shop has become one of those little Palestine gems worth discovering.
And now, it's beginning a new chapter.
A Fresh Chapter for a Local Favorite
The Magnolia Shop is entering a new chapter, with a refreshed vision and an evolving collection of makers, vendors, vintage finds, and antiques.
New management is bringing fresh energy to the space while building on the character that has made the shop a familiar part of downtown Palestine.
We're especially excited about who's helping guide that vision.
Jennifer Harrod, owner of Broken Boutique, is overseeing the shop's next chapter, including the addition of new makers and vendors and the thoughtful curation of what's brought into the space.
If you've seen what Jennifer has done with Broken Boutique, you already know she has an eye for style.
She has a talent for putting unexpected pieces together in a way that feels collected, personal, and inviting. We have no doubt she'll bring that same eye to the Magnolia Shop.
And that's what makes this partnership so exciting for us.
The Magnolia Shop already has its own personality—part consignment shop, part treasure hunt, with vintage and antique pieces mixed among goods from local makers and vendors.
Jennifer isn't starting over.
She's building on what's already there and giving the shop room to evolve.
We have a feeling this next chapter is going to be something special.
The Magnolia Next Door
One of the fun things about the Magnolia Shop is that it shares its building with the Magnolia Sandwich Shop.
That makes the space feel like a natural stop when you're exploring downtown Palestine.
Grab something to eat.
Take a little time to wander.
See what's new.
Find something you didn't know you were looking for.
That's part of what makes small downtown businesses so much fun.
They're not always the places you plan your entire day around. Sometimes they're the places you discover while you're already out exploring—and then find yourself telling someone else about later.
A Partnership We're Overjoyed About
For us, this partnership feels especially exciting.
Simpler Days will have a retail spot inside the Magnolia Shop beginning in September 2026, bringing a little piece of the Piney Woods into downtown Palestine.
We'll be offering some of our favorite things:
Piney Woods Honey
Creamed Honey
Simpler Days Planters
It's a combination that feels very Simpler Days.
Something good for the pantry.
Something good for the home.
Something made right here in East Texas.
And we're genuinely overjoyed to be part of what Jennifer is building.
We love partnering with people who have a vision for their community, and we think Jennifer is going to bring something really special to this next chapter of the Magnolia Shop.
We Love Seeing Downtown Come Alive
One of the things we love most about Palestine is watching its downtown continue to evolve.
Old buildings.
Local businesses.
New ideas.
People who care enough about their community to invest their time and creativity into it.
That's what makes a downtown feel alive.
And we think the Magnolia Shop is going to be a fun part of that story.
It's a place with history, personality, and a little bit of mystery around every corner. You never quite know what you'll find when you walk through the door.
Now, with new vendors, makers, and carefully chosen pieces coming in, there's going to be even more reason to stop and look around.
A Stop Along the Simpler Days Trail
The Simpler Days Trail is about finding the people and places that make East Texas special.
Sometimes that means discovering a place that's been around for years.
Sometimes it means watching an old favorite begin something new.
The Magnolia Shop is a little bit of both.
It's a familiar name in downtown Palestine, sharing space with another beloved local spot, while stepping into a fresh season under new management.
And starting in September, we'll be there too.
So the next time you're walking around downtown Palestine, stop by the Magnolia Shop.
Have a sandwich.
Take a look around.
See what's new.
Say hello.
And see what Jennifer and the other makers and vendors are bringing to this next chapter.
We can't wait to be part of it.
